Best Time to Visit Rome: overview of the Villa Borghese and gardens (former residence of Cardinal Scipione Borghese), and a private guided tour of the museum with a focus on sculptures by Gian Lorenzo Bernini, Canova, Caravaggio, and Titian.

Borghese Gallery houses the finest art collection in Europe. The building is an elegant, suburban villa built for Cardinal Scipione Borghese at the beginning of the 16th century. In his time, Scipione was an important patron of the arts. He personally acquired many of the ancient sculptures you’ll see in the museum, and was the first patron in Rome of the young Gian Lorenzo Bernini. Many walls and ceilings boast magnificent and perfectly preserved frescoes dating back to the late 17th century. This tour covers "Sacred and Profane Love" by Titian, "Diana and her Nymphs" by Domenichino, Raphael’s Deposition ("Entombment of Christ"), and important works by Caravaggio, Anthony Van Dyck, Peter Paul Rubens, and Jusepe de Ribera. Baroque marble sculptures of "Apollo and Daphne", "The Rape of Proserpina", and "David" by Gian Lorenzo Bernini in the Borghese Museum are some of his finest creations.
